The field of education in Pakistan is yet to come into its own as a professional field. The people associated with and working for the system of education need to be professionally competent, knowledgeable about the new trends and changes and, above all, alive to the demand of quality.
Similarly, the programs of preparing teachers for schools need to be looked afresh, not only in respect of quality assurance, but also to meet the need to remain abreast of the ongoing but unprecedented expansion in the realm of knowledge. With the introduction of technology in education, the educational scene has experienced a dramatic change making the planning and designing of learning environments and experiences in the school an inescapable need.
Application of technology in educational setting has opened up limitless possibilities in curriculum planning, designing and delivery. Self learning for both students and teachers is no longer a wish, but a necessity. The programs of teacher education should be attuned to the need of producing effective and better teachers who can meet the challenges of a rapidly progressing and changing world. Iqra University through its Faculty of Education and Learning Sciences, proposes to meet the challenge by keeping in view both the new pedagogical developments and the application of new practices in the indigenous setting of our schools.
